Meet Coach Jaz

Jazmyn Foster is a former Division I athlete, who served as the first female coach on staff for Varsity boys basketball at Cleveland High School, in Portland, OR. She spent 3 years on staff in the school district as an Assistant to Coach Dondrale Campbell, whom is also her husband.

Originally, from Phoenix, AZ, Foster has been organizing skill development opportunities for young athletes all over the world. She’s worked youth camps in her hometown for the Phoenix Suns organization. She also lived overseas in Australia and worked with several club programs. Upon returning from her time abroad, Foster landed a job with the Portland Trailblazers in HR and Office Management. During 5 NBA seasons, she was responsible for day-to-day aspects to help keep their corporate office running. During the off-seasons she was out in the community on behalf of their Social Responsibility department, serving as a youth coach. She led and supported at on-court activations & other Blazers’ outreach events throughout the Pacific Northwest.

While still finding time for motherhood, homeschooling, & taking care of her family, Foster has also served as a Director for 2 inner-city youth basketball programs in Oregon. She continues to organize opportunities for players of all socioeconomic backgrounds to work on their skills, and has been instrumental in the development of many youth and high school coaches as well. After being praised & encouraged by her communities for being a key piece, "the glue”, that grew their programs, Foster founded Ball Out. She set out to utilize her & her family’s personal and professional connections, as well as their experience & vast knowledge of the game, to enhance basketball offerings in all the areas they traveled to and worked in.

Coach Jaz believes that basketball should be fun, first and foremost, and has worked hard to create memorable experiences for all the youth she has been entrusted with coaching for over a decade. She says that her comfort zone is the support role, but those that know her closely know she is truly her own kind of leader. As a coach, she prides herself on helping players pay close attention to detail and to never overlook the little things. As a former player, she enjoys leading team building activities for teams. And as a parent & active member of her communities, she has a knack for helping basketball programs improve fundraising, marketing, fan engagement, & community involvement. Many coaches she has worked for or alongside have said that she is the “Jaz of all Trades” & that her self-given title of “Assistant” or “Support Coach” is a humble understatement.
